Glass, throw-up, broken bags of rice, etc. don't spill in a logical direction the way glasses of milk or bottles of juice might. What have yall done in the past for things like that where the spill could literally be anywhere with little to no containment?

Your best bet is to canvas the entire area where it spilled and recon what you can pick up. I use a combination of getting down on my knees and feeling with a paper towel or something similar, or use your feet. All depends on what you're picking up. Glass doesn't usually fly or scatter really far. Rice, interesting you mention that, will scatter pretty well and it can be hard to get all of it.
You can use sort of a concentric circle movement - a small circle within a larger circle within a larger circle ... to try and cover the most ground.
The frustrating part will always be that no matter how thorough you are, you will always miss, and anyone who looks at the area will have their immediate attention grabbed by whatever it was you missed, and that is all most of them will ever notice.

Also use a large rag so you can clean the largest area. Fill with your hand. Yes, I know you might not want to touch something, but well if you're gonna clean it you've got to see it right? God made soap for washing hands. Lol

Leo is right. You can clean til your heart's content and the first thing a wellmeaning sighted person will see is that one tiny sliver you missed. Anyway, a handvac is also a good idea for solid stuff.
As for barf, yep, the old touch and feel is your best bet. Lucky for me, my hubby can't smell so he gets to clean up all the barf messes.

Sort of like washing dishes. You go over that plate mltiple times, every inch of it, and there's still that one little spot that you missed.
